Abstract
267,114. Hohenzollern Akt.-Ges. fiir Lokomotivbau. March 6, 1926, [Convention date]. Friction gearing.-In epicyclic friction gearing of the kind employing conical intermediate rollers, for use with electromotors &c., the outer edges of the rollers d, adjacent to the stationary race A on the casing c, are pressed in an axial direction to secure frictional grip by a surface n on a ring h engaged by a spring i. The surface n and the end faces of the rollers are so inclined to the axis that each roller is in engagement with the ring at two points. The rollers are journaled upon a spider e secured to the driven shaft m, adjustably carried in a bearing o in the casing, and engage with a sleeve a secured to the driving-shaft b, the surfaces of the sleeve, rollers, and casing being coned to meet in the same apex s. Flanges E, F on the sleeve a assist to maintain the position of the rollers, which serve to support the shaft b, no end bearing for which is provided.
