Abstract

153,239. Brown, H. N. May 10, 1920. Pulleys.-Solid cast or other pulleys are converted into split pulleys by being divided as by saw cuts 3, 5, Fig. 1. The pulley halves 1, 2 are assembled about the shaft 6 and secured together. The ends of the divided rim are connected by plates 7 fastened by countersunk bolts 8. The hub segments 4 are connected by horseshoe-shaped clamps 10, which are attached by set screws 15, 16, passing into spokes 13 and hub 4 respectively, the opening of one clamp being opposite the crown of the other, as shown in Fig. 2.
