Abstract
204,811. Ropeways, Ltd., and Roe, E. July 21, 1922. Pulleys are formed of a sheave d with a renewable tread a made of a strip of metal fitting within a recess b in the sheave. A new split tread is opened out and passed over the shaft or bearing of the pulley and over the periphery of the sheave, and is then contracted to fit at the bottom of the recess. The ends of the tread a preferably overlap and are tightened and clamped to the sheave by a bolt f<1> with a wedge head f. In the case of a pulley with deep flanges, the tread may be thrust endways through a notch in a flange.
