Abstract

R÷ntgen-ray tubes.--An incandescent cathode consisting of a straight filament or a straight coil is mounted at the junction of two inclined flat surfaces forming a focussing device. The cathode, in the form of a closely coiled helix 1, is mounted in and nearly fills a slot at the apex of the two inclined surfaces 5, 6. Two other inclined surfaces 7, 8 may be arranged at the ends of the cathode to prevent emission in the longitudinal direction, and may be supported by means of wires 9. A trough-shaped base 11 below the cathode is provided with glass tubes 12 for insulating the leads 2.
