Abstract

441,735. Two-part couplings. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Dec. 11, 1934, No. 35592. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1933. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for a tubular lamp with a cap or contact at each end comprises two spaced sockets which are mechanically but not electrically connected in such a manner as to form a flexible batten which permits movement of the sockets relatively to one another. Preferably the sockets are connected to one another by one or more flexible tubes of metal or other material, within which the supply wires may be enclosed. The Figure shows a curved tubular lamp 5 with lateral caps which are received in spaced sockets 1 connected by a flexible tube 4. Apertures 3 are provided in the sockets to receive screws for attaching them to a support. The flexible tube may be of circular or other cross-section. In a modification the sockets are connected by two flexible metallic tubes which are disposed parallel to one another and spaced by clamps or bridges arranged at intervals. The sockets may be made in one or more pieces.
