Abstract

372,904. Electric incandescent lamps. BERGER, W., 4, Muenchner Platz, and MENDEL, H., 12, Reichenbachstrasse, both in Dresden, Germany. April 8, 1931, No. 10413. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1930. [Class 39 (ii).] A gas-filled electric incandescent lamp for projection purposes is provided with an illuminating body c, Fig. 1, constituted by a series of parallel wires arranged in. the form of a zig-zag, the undulations of which are transverse to the general projection plane of the filament. The flat surfaces d<1>, d<11>, d<111> formed by the wires are disposed at an angle of 30‹ with each other, and the number of wires per centimetre of width measured transversely to the. wires may be varied between four each of 1À5 mm. diameter and twenty each of 0À3 mm. diameter, a preferable arrangement being ten wires each of 1 mm. diameter. Preferably a screen which is not traversed by the current is mounted on an insulating support within the bulb at a short distance behind the filament to prevent the circulation of gas around the illuminating body.
