Abstract
200,674. Simms, R. June 19, 1922. Ventilating-shaft tops. - A wind-directed ventilating cowl of the kind adapted both to supply fresh air and exhaust foul air, and comprising an upper T-shaped portion d, d<1>, mounted to rotate on ball-bearings c carried by a lower fixed part a, has an inclined baffle m fitted in the cross-member d<1> and provided with a wind-operated non-return valve m<1>. In operation, the vane d<2> causes the funnel-shaped inlet h to face the wind which, entering the member d<1>, is delivered partly to the inner supply-tube, e, k, and partly through the valve m<1> to cause an updraught in the annular space g between the inner tube e, k and the outer tube a, d. The cowl is particularly adapted for the ventilation of poultry houses.
