Abstract
A valve 12 controls fuel flow to a number of nozzle orifices 7 and a member 12 which is separate from the valve is adjustable to close some of the cross-section of the nozzle orifices on partial engine load and open the entire cross-section of the orifices on full engine load. The member 12 may obstruct the orifices 7 under the control of a valve which admits pressure medium to the piston 25 via the duct 36, the member otherwise being lifted when the valve is opened by fuel pressure. The piston abutment 35 may be adjustable. The orifice obstructing member may extend through the valve and have an adjustable abutment which determines the degree of obstruction when the member is lifted by fuel pressure, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown). <IMAGE>
