Abstract

Dropping - roller sheet feeds; sheet separators; pile tables and supports.- A sheet-feeding device of the type described in Specification 24307/14 is provided with means for creasing the blanks as they are fed one at a time to a packet-making machine, thus rendering pressure unnecessary for keeping the gummed parts together. The creasing means are placed between the suction-feed c and feed rollers g and may take the form of circumferential grooves on the feed-roller d and ridges on the dropping roller e, or transverse or diagonal grooves may be employed. One roller may be of hard material with ridges or grooves, and the other of resilient material, such as rubber. A series of parallel circumferential grooves may be cut in one roller to ensure a straight feed and one roller may be slightly barrel-shaped. As shown in Fig. 2, the roller e may be made in two parts e<1>, separated by a collar m and the roller d may be knurled. V-shaped ridges and grooves k, h are shown, but ridges with a rounded crest may be employed.
