Feb. 22, 1922 Rotary cylindrical valves.-A motor worked by steam, gas, air or water, a compressor, or a pump has two groups a of parallel cylinders rotating on axes at right-angles, and connected by common, right-angled pistons e. Power is taken from a pulley on a shaft a<4> driven by toothed gearing a<1>, a<2> from one group. Normally - stationary, stepped, supply valves, Fig. 8, coaxial with the cylinder-group axes, containing cavities d<3> for connecting terminal exhaust cylinders to avoid compression, and longitudinally adjustable by toothed and rack-and-pinion gearing for cut-off and reversal, or valves controlling both supply and exhaust, are provided. One group only may constitute the motor, the other, a compressor or pump.
