198,603. Huhn, G. Aug. 26, 1922. Packing, metallic; packing, inserting. - In order to adapt packing consisting of hollow soft-metal rings 5, filled with graphite or other lubricating material, for use in stuffing- boxes where compression by a gland cannot be employed, the packing-rings are made of slightly greater external diameter than the bore of the stuffing-box and are forced into position. The mouth 4 of the stuffing-box is slightly flared and is rounded at 3 and the rings are forced into the box by hammering or pressing on an iron ring 8.
