Abstract
198,348. Viel, L. L. May 24, 1922, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-The carburettor comprises a submerged nozzle with a combination of means for admitting air thereto, one of such means being actuated from the throttle valve after it has reached its fully open position, such as described in Specification 186,885, the other being dependent upon engine suction, such as described in Specification 158,266. The submerged nozzle A, S, T is fed from the float chamber U through a calibrated orifice B and air is admitted to the interior thereof through conduits M<1>, N and N'. The conduit M<1> is controlled by a weighted member M adapted to be raised by engine suction. The air through the conduit N is controlled by a cock 0, which mav be set as desired, and also by a valve K loaded by a spring L and adapted to be struck and closed by an arm I on the throttle valve H after the latter has reached its fully open position. In the closed position of the valve K some air can enter through an annular space around the reduced lower end of the valve. A slow-running nozzle X discharges into a conduit Y provided with a cock Z. In a modification, an additional weighted member m, Fig. 3, and a constricted orifice P are provided in the conduit N'.
