Abstract

198,341. Robinson, J. N. May 26, 1922, [Convention date]. Fusible cut-outs.-A shackle or strain insula. tor, for overhead wiring, having a fusible cut-out incorporated therewith comprises a body portion with a flat base A and a wire groove B around it, a shackle attaching eye A' arranged vertically in one end and an arched dome D at the other end covering an upwardly directed fuse recess E containing a pair of terminals. A handled fuse plug J, fitting the recess in such a manner as to leave space for the exit of flame and gases, carries contacts N adapted to engage spring clip contacts on the terminals and has grooves J to hold the fuse. The leads pass in to the terminals through openings in the side of the insulator and one C passes around the insulator to produce a magnetic field to assist the rupture of the circuit upon blowing of the fuse. A protective and weatherproof flange M extends around the fuse plug.
