197,374. Millar, T., and Dickie, J. Feb. 7, 1922. Hatch fastenings.-A cleat for ships' hatches comprises a wedge member A with a flat face A<1> designed to bear against the hatch bottom. The horizontal web portion terminates in a rounded edge which engages with a groove B<1 >in a bracket B secured to the coaming. The web is slotted at A<3> so that the wedge member having been slid back from contact with the hatch batten may be swung back to enable the hatch cover to be removed easily. Stops A' prevent the entire disengagement of the bolt from the bracket. In a modification, the wedge member of T or L section has an angled or straight recess or slot in the web portion. Specification 1210/06 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 15315/93.
