Abstract

212,695. Neil, J. Jan. 25, 1923. Hatch fastenings. - A clamping device particulary adapted for securing tarpaulins over ships' hatches comprises a fixed' bracket a carrying a pivoted clamping member b, the upper part m of which engages the batten f on tightening a screw d in the lower part of the clamping member. The upper part m of the clamping member is U-shaped and each limb carries a projection e to prevent the batten f from rising. The clamping member is so pivoted that, on releasing the screw d, it falls away from the hatch under its own weight.
