Abstract

242,343. Tell, E. E. von. Aug. 5, 1924. Hatch fastenings.-For securing a tarpaulin over a ships hatch, a removable clamp is used consisting of a bar of metal 1, Figs. 2 and 3, connected by oppositely inclined links 4, 5 to a pair of bars 8, 9 in line with one another and coupled by a turnbuckle 12 or like device. The bars 8, 9 bear against studs 13 on the bracket 14 and the bar 1 hold the tarpaulin 16 against the coaming 15. To release the tarpaulin, the nut 12 is turned so that the right and left hand screws 10, 11 and bars 8, 9 travel out whereby the links 4, 5 are slackened.
