Abstract

196,277. Thrasher, E. E. April 12, 1922, [Convention date]. Tyres with rims enclosing air tubes; tyre attachments to rims.-In a combined cushion and pneumatic tyre, the solid tread 1 has a reduced neck portion 2 and curved portions 3 enclosing an inner tube 6. The detachable wheel rim portions 8, 9 enclose the tube 6, and have flattened faces 11 engaging grooves 7 in the curved sides 3 to prevent lateral creeping movements of the tyre. The rim portion 9 has a depending flange 18 bolted to the felloe, and is secured to the portion 9 by spring fingers 17. The neck portion 2 may be reinforced by fabric or cloth.
