218,381. Seddon, E. H. April 4, 1923. Pneumatic and solid tyres side by side on same wheel.-A one-piece rubber tread' comprises solid side portions 2, 3 and a central portion 1 which is supported on a pneumatic cushion 5. The latter, which may be of the single-tube or other type, is formed with inextensible edges 8 clamped between flanged rings 12, 13 bolted to the wheel rim 4. The rings 12, 13 support the solid tyres 2, 3 and to facilitate assemblage &c. the elements 2, 3 are directly secured to flanged base-rings 10, 11 which are detachably secured on stepped seatings 17 on the rings 12. 13. The pneumatic cushion 5 is vulcanized or otherwise connected to the tread portion 1 which is shown with a reinforcing fabric insertion 23.
