Abstract

197,268. Mitchell, L. O. Nov. 4, 1922. Non-metallic elastic bodies and cores; tyre attachments to rims.- A cushion tyre comprises rubber blocks 10 having transverse apertures 9 which register with apertures 8 in the side walls of an outer cover 6, fabric strips 11 being cemented to, and lapping the inner and outer faces of, adjacent blocks, as shown in Fig. 1. A continuous band 19 arranged near the tyre beads is fitted with pins 20 adapted to pass through holes 21 in the collapsable rim 1. The pin 20 which passes through the aperture formed by the cutaway parts 25, 26 at the rim-ends is threaded to take a holding-nut. The rim is fitted with brackets 30 for attachment to a wheel.
