Abstract

196,154. Spencer, Moulton, & Co., Ltd., G., and Glascodine, R. T. March 4,1922. India-rubber springs. - An india-rubber bearing spring for use between the axle and underframe of a motor vehicle as an auxiliary to the laminated bearing spring comprises a cylindrical, barrel, or other shaped block 32 of indiarubber seated at its ends in cups 33 and retained in the central position therein by axial pins 35 which engage an axial hole 36 formed throughout the block. The cups are of such a size that an annular space is formed between the cups and the ends of the block to allow expansion of the ends of the block under compression without interfering with the freedom of further expansion of the intermediate portions of the block when the ends thereof have come into close contact with the walls of the cups. The bottom of each cup is formed with a shallow depression 34 and the lower cup is formed with drainage, holes 37.
