Abstract

Pencil-holders: erasers.- In pencil - holders of the kind having a tubular body fitted with a head portion containing a lead conduit through which the lead is fed forwards by a push-rod extending from a screw feed - mechanism, which is rotated by means of a cap, the cap is formed as a reversible eraser - holder. The body 1, Fig. I, carries a detachable head 2 having a central lead conduit 6, around which is a magazine chamber 4 for spare leads, the chamber being closed by a detachable cap 8. The mouth 13 of the conduit 6 is so formed as to resist the advance of the lead, and may be of polygonal section to prevent rotation of the lead. The lead is advanced by a push-rod 10 integral with a screw 14, which is prevented from rotation by means such as a yoke 15 engaging ribs 16. The screw is advanced by a nut 17 carried by a tube 18, which can be rotated by means of a cap 22 having a rib-and-groove engagement with the tube. The cap 22, Fig. IV, is reversible in the tube, and is split so that it may hold an eraser 25 in one end. The eraser is clamped by a ring 29 which is forced over the cap and engages a ribbed portion 31 thereon.
