Universal joints permitting relative movement between a motor aid a wheel axle. A hollow motor-shaft 2, carried by the vehicle frame, surrounds the axle 3 and is formed with a flange 5 having four bosses 6 - - 9. Similar bosses 10 - - 13 are formed on the wheel 14. Spindles 20, 21 each independently pivoted on pins 16 carried by a floating ring 15, slide in cups in the bosses, and compression springs 22 threaded on the spindles transmit the driving force from thebosses 6 - - 9 to the ring 15 and from the ring to the wheel 14 through the bosses 10 - - 13. Sufficient space is provided between the axle 3 and the hollow shaft 2 to permit of the maximum relative movements of the parts due to the flexureof the vehicle springs.
