Abstract

194,520. Hansford, J. B. Feb. 20, 1922. Scrubbers and washers.-A gas washer having superposed compartments in each of which descending liquid is sprayed by a rotating tray or trays with peripheral discharge apertures is provided with means whereby the ascending gas current is caused to rotate the shaft carrying the trays. The gas admitted through a conduit 11 impinges on depending vanes 10, the velocity of flow being arranged to be normally sufficient to effect rotation of the shaft 6; auxiliary means may also be provided. Liquid within each compartment may be scooped up and circulated by piping 14.
