194,276. Morel, E. March 6, 1922, [Convention date]. Forging bolts and rivets. -Headed bolts, rivets &c. are made in a matrix m, by first axially compressing a hot or cold rcd a while in contact with a stop l so as partially to upset the free end as shown at t and then finally completing the upsetting after the bottom stop l has been removed, the preliminary and final upsetting operations being effected in the same matrix. The process is stated to prevent the formation of a burr at the top of the head.
