Railway locomotives, steam turbine; locomotives of compound or articulated construction. -In turbine-driven condensing locomotives comprising two vehicles in which the driving turbine is located on the front part of the rear vehicle, some or all of the front wheels of the rear vehicle are mounted as driving-wheels in a bogie, and a coupling is provided between the two vehicles, preferably arranged to rotate about a definite axis chosen so that the rear wheels of the front vehicle will act as guiding wheels for the driven bogie wheels of the trailing vehicle. Fig. 1 shows one construction in which a turbine 8 and its reducing-gear are mounted on a bogie 13 and drive the wheels through coupling rods 9. A coupling 18, comprising two registering eyes connected by a vertical pin, is used to connect the bogie 13 to the rear bogie, of the leading vehicle. A flexible connection 14 is arranged between the turbine and the condenser 5. If the turbine is mounted on the frame instead of on the bogie, the flexible connection is included in the transmission gear. A modified form of coupling, comprising two links 22, is shown in Fig. 4 for use when the bogie 13 is coupled to the frame of the leading vehicle.
