Abstract
195,341. Aktiebolaget Ljungstr÷ms Angturbin. March 24, 1922, [Convention date]. Railway locomotives, steam turbine; locomotives of articulated construction.-Comprises a locomotive structure in which the leading vehicle carries the boiler while the trailer vehicle carries a condenser pertaining to the locomotive, some or all of the rear wheels of the leading vehicle being embodied together with some or all of the front wheels of the trailing vehicle in a common bogie which is movable with respect to the two vehicles carried thereby, said common bogie carrying a steam turbine and toothed gearing connected thereto and transmitting motion from the steam turbine to the driving wheels either directly or by the aid of connecting rods. In the form shown, the leading vehicle 3 carries the boiler while, the trailing vehicle 6 carries the condenser, the common bogie, which is movable with respect to the two vehicles, carrying a steam turbine. 8, and toothed reducing- gearing for driving the locomotive. The two vehicles are mounted on the bogie at 9 and 10 respectively. In a modified form the two vehicles are connected together rigidly, and connected to the bogie by a common pivot situated between them. In a further modification the common pivot is situated beneath the condenser vehicle.
