Abstract

193,338. Howarth, H. June 29, 1922. Mud-guards rotating with wheels.- A ring 1 which fits on the wheel hub is connected to a ring 3 by arms 4. The flange 8 of a flexible member 7, preferably of rubber, is inserted between the ring 3 and a ring 5 attached thereto, and is secured by punching depressions 9 in the ring 5. Metal straps 10 secure the arms 4 to the wheel spokes 11. The members 1, 3, 4 may be stamped out separately or as a whole. The ring 5 may be dispensed with, the ring 3 being bent to form a recess in which the flange 8 is secured hy forcing inwards one edge of the recess. The flange 8 may be axial and secured between an axial flange on the ring 3 and an L-shaped ring attached thereto. The member 7 is of such width as to catch lateral splash from any part of the tyre or rim.
