Abstract

193,009. Grant, R., and Vickery, S. Feb. 11, 1922, [Convention date]. Shaft couplings.-Adjustable slipping couplings comprise an externally-threaded casing 8, having a boss keyed to a driving-shaft or, as shown, bolt-holes 10 for attachment to a driving-flange, and provided with a key 16 engaging discs 13, which are revoluble on the squared end 12 of a driven shaft 11 and have interposed between them smaller discs 14 slidable on the part 12. The discs are pressed by a spring 22 adjusted by a cap 19, which screws on the casing 8 and has finger recesses or knurls 21. The shaft 11 may carry a coupling-flange (not shown). The device is stated to provide for flexibility of alignment.
