Abstract

192,473. Steiner, B. Nov. 1, 1921. Seals.-A metal seal for use in fastening papers together, sealing envelopes, marking fabrics &c. comprises two plates 1, 3 each having plane surfaces to contact with opposite sides of the material to be sealed, the first pla,te being provideo with upstanding prongs 2 projecting directly from the plane surface to engage in an undercut groove or recesses 6 in the second plate when the plates are pressed together. The prongs, which are preferably provided with inclined points to facilitate sliding over the inclined faces 5 of the recesses, are stamped up near the edge of the first plate to leave the periphery substantially or wholly unbroken. The second plate is formed with a central plane surface to contact with the material, and the edge is bent up and over to form an annular hooked flange for the reception of the prongs 2, the edge 4 being in the same plane as the centre portion.
