Abstract
192,295. Eckersley, E., Fairclough, J., and Stafford, C. E. Feb. 15, 1922. Shaft couplings.-In means for adjustably securing together shaft-coupling members, of the type in which clamping-bolts on one member engage, curved slots in the other, the adjustment is effected by a worm carried bv one member and engaging peripheral teeth on the other. One coupling disc A has curved slots A<4> and helical teeth A<3>, which extend partly or wholly around its periphery and are adapted to mesh with a worm C<2>, the spindle C of which is carried in lugs B<4> on the other disc B, which may be of larger diameter than the disc A. The discs A, B are clamped together after adjustment by bolts A<5>, engaging the slots A<4>, and nuts (not shown). The spindle C is turned by flats or a squared part C<3>. The slots A<4> may be formed in the part B. The device is applicable to the timing of magnetos and valve-operating mechanism in internalcombustion engines.
