Fixing by lap joints and grooved members.-A surgeon's knife has a handle in two parts to facilitate the sterilization thereof, such parts being detachably secured to any one of a series of blades. The blade 19 having a slot 23 is mounted between the handle 10 and a clamping-plate 11, which has projections 16 with hook ends 15 adapted to pass through the slot 23 in the blade and also through corresponding passages 14 in the handle to engage by a sliding movement on bearing-surfaces 17. In this position, detents 21 on the hooks 15 resiliently engage indents 20 on the surfaces 17. The inner ends of the blade and the clamping-plate are retained against an abutment 12 on the handle 10.
