Forced-draught systems; a i r , supplying.-In a marine-boiler furnace, currents of heated air are supplied above the firebars through pipes g which lead to the wings of the furnace and are fitted with nozzles so arranged as to direct the air diagonally across the grate. The air is heated by being passed through a chamber or trunkway in the uptake, and is led to a chamber beneath the smoke-box, to which the pipes g are fitted.
