Abstract

Projectiles.-Relates to incendiary projectiles and tracers of the kind having lateral outlets through which the inflammable substance escapes during flight, inflaming spontaneously as it issues. According to this invention, the inflammable substance is contained in a case which is of smaller diameter than the gunbarrel, and has lateral outlets sealed by a sleeve which is fixed by easily fusible solder and is adapted to slide off the case rearwardly after leaving the barrel. Fig. 1 shows a shell having a tracer constructed in accordance with the invention. The sleeve E which seals the outlets C in the case B may be acted on by a spring F. The application of the invention to a bullet is also described and shown. Specification 15,956/15 is referred to.
