Abstract

13,274. Mottershead, J., and Hamilton, & Sons, J. Sept. 17. Chucks.-The arbor c, Fig. 3, of an internal chuck is pinned at m, Fig. 1, to a flange slotted at n, Fig. 2, for attachment to a face-plate. A cam h integral with, or attached to, the arbor engages jaws p in slots in a collar g loose on the arbor. The portion f of the collar may be conical, and the cam is such that the jaws are self-tightening under drive. For release, the jaws are flanged at s to engage a reverselyarranged internal cam u. A tommy-hole r pro. vides for turning the collar to effect the release. According to the Provisional Specification, the release may be effected by openings, and the chuck may be arranged for gripping externally. Milling-cutters may be similarly mounted on their arbors.
