Spindles; chucks.- The hollow spindle a of a lathe or screwing machine is mounted in ball bearings band coned at c to suit a dcuble ended collet j slctted from both ends and closed on the work by a screwed cone d locked by a ring e. In a modification the cone d is replaced by a screwed ring coacting with the square end of a single ended collet.
