Abstract

4484. Simpson, T. Feb. 20. Chucks of the independent - jaw type have the body strengthened with segmental plates a which are chamfered at j to provide guides for the jaws. Nuts n with holes of varyi n g eccentricity may be provided to permit the plates to be moved inwards to compensate for wear. The nuts on the jaws completely encircle the screws, which are received in recesses c in the body and abut against a removable ring b, which facilitates reversal of the jaws. The recesses terminate short of the periphery, which is holed at f to pass a key.
