Combinations of interdependent valves.-The fuel needle valve f of a carburettor is adjusted, as shown in Fig. 9, in conjunction with the iris diaphragm l around the fuel nozzle, through gearing m, m<1> and a spring r, one end of which is attached to the gear m<1> and the other to the screwed valve stemf, forming an elastic connexion. The iris diaphragm l and gear m are actuated by hand by the part p.
