Motors, cooling; armatures and field magnets, cooling. - Chambers 1 are arranged at the ends of a motor M and communicate with one another through interfitting pipes 7; air is directed into the motor at its ends by means of a fan 9 inside a chamber 1. The airinlet pipe 13 may have a strainer 14 for separating dust &c. Fan blades or buckets 17 may be fastened to the armature R. The air, after cooling the rotor windings, issues through openings O<1> in the stator S. The chambers 1 may be detachable and may be provided with covered hand-holes 16.
