Abstract

18,736. Abbott, W. G. Aug. 17. Recovering fats and oils from waste waters. -Wool - scouring and like liquors are treated to separate grease &c. by heating under pressure until light greases rise to the surface, heavy greases settle to the bottom, and the intermediate liquor is clear. The liquor is heated in a closed vessel B by a steam coil L to about 165‹ C. until a sample of the liquor in a test glass E, connected by pipes Q, R to the vessel, becomes clear by settlement of the grease on standing. The liquor is allowed to cool. The light grease is removed by a pipe I, the clear liquor by a pipe N, and the heavy grease through a cock P.
