Abstract

301,666. Naamlooze Vennootschap Neckar Waterreiniger Maatschappij, and Noodendorp, H. Jan. 10, 1928. Water, distilling.- The steam obtained by expanding the sludge water from a boiler is used to evaporate the make-up feed water for the boiler. The sludge water from a steam-generating boiler B is passed through a pipe f into an expansion chamber g and the steam produced is passed through a coil e in the make up evaporator C. The residual sludge water is passed through a coil m to preheat and deaerate the water in a water softener a and then flows into a sludge container p where the sludge settles out, the clarified water being passed to a feed water tank r or, if necessary, first into the water softener a. The softened water is pumped by a pump b to the evaporator c to which additional exhaust and live steam is supplied through pipes i, k, respectively. The steam from the evaporator c is condensed by passage through a perforated plate sprayed with condensate from the surface condensers of the plant supplied through a pipe t. The water in the tank r can be again de-aerated by means of a pump v.
