Plant; balancing moving parts; transmission mechanism, special applications of.-In a marine geared turbine installation of the type in which one or more turbines are connected to a propeller shaft by gearing, the thrust bearing is made in one piece with the main gear-wheel mounting. The ahead and astern blocks may be arranged on opposite sides of the gear-wheel and either on the outer sides of thrust collars o, as shown, or on the inner sides. In place of the collars o as shown, the faces of the gear-wheel may be used. The ahead and astern blocks may, alternatively, be arranged both on one side of the gear-wheel and may act on adjacent collars on the shaft or on opposite sides of one collar. Each thrust bearing comprises a spherical seat n and a spherical ring q hinged upon a ring p which bears against a collar o or the like.
