Abstract

4220. Lange, P. de, and Fischer, O. Sept. 8, 1913, [Convention date]. [Addition to 4184/14.] Hot-wire receivers are provided with supports for the filaments, each comprising concentric metal rings 1, 2 with a ring 3 of insulation between them. Radial slots 4. 5 are formed in the.rings 1, 2, into which the flattened ends 6 of the filaments 7 fit detachably. The filaments 7 comprise Wollaston wires which are treated by immersing them in an acid bath, as described in the parent Specification. Plugs 8, 9 are screwed into the rings 1, 2 and fit into metal sockets 10, 11 screwed into a block 12 of insulating - material in a casing 13. The part 17 screws on to the casing 13 and holds the perforated cover 20 for the filaments 7 against the block 12. The telephone illustrated is of very small size and is adapted for use hy persons with defective hearing. The rings 1, 2, 3 are cut from a tube built up of conducting and insulating layers, and the radial slots are snbsequently formed by milling
