Sliding-jaw wrenches. - Wrenches provided with an outer and an inner jaw having toothed surfaces slidable one upon another and locked in adjusted position by a sliding wedge have the inner jaw extended to form the handle, thereby increasing the leverage as the nut gap is increased, and have the locking- wedge arranged on the same side as the nut gap. The outer jaw B slides through a strap fixed to the inner jaw A and carries a strap sliding on the inner jaw. and after being moved into adjustment, teeth on adjacent edges of the jaws are brought into engagement by a wedge C passing through the fixed strap on the outer jaw.
