[Cognate Application, 7693/14.] Sights. - R e l a t e s to naval mountings of the casemate or the upperdeck type, on which the gunners are c a r r i e d within a shield end near the gun trunnions, and consists in carrying the gunners between the side cheeks of the guncarriage, the sights being arranged wholly below the gun and carried at the forward part of the gun-cradle either on the gun trunnions or the gun elevating-arc. Figs. 1 and 3 show a casemate mounting for a single gun, the sights D<2> being mounted upon the gun trunnions D<1> between the carriage cheeks B and the gun-cradle. A single sight mounted immediately below the cradle may be employed in the case where the mounting is operated by a single gunner. Fig. 8 shows in plan a mounting for a pair of guns in which the cross-connected sights D<2> are mounted upon the gun elevating-arcs B<Î> and below the trunnions D' The sight-setter occupies a seat b<0>, and the gunners stand upon the bise b<2> of a chamber B<1> formed integral with the carriage cheeks.
