Abstract
22,753. Jackson, W. J. Meltersh-, [Wygodsky Engine Co.]. Oct. 8. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-The igniter is in the shape of an annular tube 3 kept hot by the combustion in the cylinder, and is so placed, relatively to the spraying orifice, that the charge is ignited at the extreme edge of the spray by contact of the charge with, or radiation of heat from, the surface of the igniter. The internal passage through the igniter enables it to be heated at starting by the application of a torch 5. A water jacket 81 separates the igniter from the exterior of the cylinder. Several forms of igniter are described for use where two spraying-orifices are employed.
