Non - metallic elastic bodies and cores; tread projections and surfaces. -A cushion tyre comprises a continuous tread portion and spaced inner and outer walls 1, 2 respectively which abut at the rim, a security-ring 6 'being enclosed within the tyre as shown. The base portions 2<a> of the side walls may be formed of relatively harder rubber; or these parts may be constituted by metal rings vulcanized to the walls. To prevent creeping, the butting surfaces of the parts 1, 2 may be corrugated and the inner periphery of the tyre may be corrugated to engage a corrugated ring 14 fitted in the bed of the rim. For cooling, and to permit egress of water &c., vents 16 may be provided in the tread portion. The latter is also formed with transverse grooves 18 the walls of which are moulded with ribs 19 for ejecting stones &c.
