Abstract

Spray carburettors; vaporizers, external.-Air and fuel are supplied in measured quantities, for instance by an ordinary choke tube and nozzle, or by controlling the fuel-valve by the air pressure, the nozzle D being shielded so that the fuel is not sprayed but drains into a sump F, into which air, drawn by a pump M from the measured air, is delivered from a nozzle H for spraying, the mixture passing to an exhaust-heated chamber P having one part R of large heat-storage capacity, and another part S of large heat-conducting capacity. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the float chamber communicates through passages E<8>, E<11> with the air-chamber G, the fuel gravitating into the sump F and being sprayed by air from the nozzle H. Additional air may be added to the mixture after it leaves the heater.
