[Addition to 5673/12.] Naval mountings.-Relates to the elevating- gear, operated conjointly by two men, described in the parent Specification, and consists of an indicator, geared to the elevating worm-shaft of one man, the gun-layer, the movements of which indicator show the auxiliary man when he is to operate his gear to assist the gun-layer to counteract the effect of the ship's movements on the laying of the gun. Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the indicator applied to the form of elevating-gear shown in Figs. 6 and 7 of the parent Specification. The indicator is a pointer D engraved upon a rotary dial D', and driven by the gun-layer's worm-shaft B<1> through gearing d<4>, d<3>, D<2>, d<1>, d<2>. The auxiliary man assists to operate the elevating-gear by a hand-wheel C<1>, when the augmented movements of the pointer show that the gun-layer is making a rapid adjustment; slow movements of the pointer are ignored.
