357,623. Ordnance sights. RHEINISCHE METALLWAABEN - UND MASCHINENFABRIK, 195, Ulmenstrasse, Derendorf, and WESTPHALINGER, H., 2, Ostendorfstrasse, both in Dusseldorf, Germany. June 19, 1930, No. 18774. [Class 92 (ii).] Sight corrections for changes in the initial velocity of the projectile, due for example to erosion of the barrel, are combined with the normal adjustment of the sight for range, including values of the tangent angle of elevation up to 45‹, by employing a drum U with curves 1 .. 4 each corresponding to a definite reduction in the initial velocity, the drum being rotated to correspond to the normal tangent angle of elevation during the setting of the sight for normal range and the additional adjustment being conveyed to the sight during the setting of an index X to the appropriate curve on the drum. In the form shown, the bar G carrying the sight J is moved together with a toothed arc C<3> for normal range adjustment by rotating a pinion P through a hand-wheel N, the drum U being thereby moved through the normal angle of tangent elevation by the pinion T which engages a fixed rack L. During the setting of the index X effected by a hand-wheel M, the sight bar G is moved relatively to the arc C<3> by rotating a pinion R which engages internal teeth C<2> on the arc to impart the additional adjustment to the sight.
