Washing. - Smoke and fumes from furnace and boiler flues are washed, and valuable products are obtained therefrom, in an iron or steel chamber a divided into two, three, or more compartments by baffle-plates b, the compartments containing readily - removable spraying- devices f. The draught is maintained by a fan d and the products are removed through doors g. Baffle-plate doors c enable any or all of the compartments to be closed to the smoke and fumes. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 18,488/04, [Class 51, Furnaces &c.], 7962/05, and 15,172/07.
